Media:

If you leave a submission, it and its metadata are retained indefinitely. Each form includes a Submission Acknowledgement statement for us to be able to store your data.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Website administrators can change usernames on request.

We only use secure servers provided by 1&1 Ionos Inc. Our website also usex SSL end to end encryption to ensure that your data is protected. 

What data breach procedures we have in place:

The GDPR introduces a duty on all organisations to report certain types of personal data breach to the ICO within 72 hours. Sea cadet units should report this when they first become aware of any data breach or loss and should do this using the MSSC out of hours emergency line. The unit’s data controller must also be informed. A data breach or loss is grouped as a “major “ incident and must be reported on the emergency line within 3 hours.
